I totally agree with your point, though, and have thought that myself. I'm very glad I never had to dissect anything, although one time I had to take a chicken neck and wing and boil them down to look at the skeleton. I thought I was going to be sick. I made the sketch but I refused to touch it... ><

I wouldn't be so against it if they used animals that were already dead. I understand why it has to be done. I come from a family of nurses after all... Most colleges are using trauma man now. I'm not sure how much the trauma dummies are but since they're built realistically I doubt they're cheap.
Most schools are switching to computer programs that digitally dissect a digitally rendered frog usually at student request. If you're school's still using frogs ask them to save up and switch to the program, nothing changes unless you do something.

& remember... it's not like they just dissect animals. There's human cadavers at schools too.

lol not at mine. we are so poor and stupid.. sorry mast people dont like our school I mean it could be better if the staff would atually listion to us. To be honest I never had Biology.. I was put into Applyed bio.chem. I had to dissect a shark once. It was fun but I felt really bad for them. 50 sharks kill so we could cut them open when we could just look on the internet or a program to learn it, without the death and the people going EWwww... all class. I know you dont get the exsperance of cuting something open but alot dont need it unless they are going into that field but then they can just learn by volentering at vets and hapitals. IM sure programs can teach you everything you need to know about that stuff if you go into that caree. sorry I rented hope you dont mind.

& dont I know it poor sharks... they're over fished. Poor babies. I'll protest at my college , I think they're switching to trauma man though.

Sometimes, they do use animals that would have been killed anyway. My class is disecting cow hearts next week that come from a meat factory.

I agree, we had to dissect a rat and some sort of bird in our science classes. I must say i did enjoy it and felt i learned a lot from it however i would have felt a lot better if the animals had died naturally. You could see blood on the rats head where they had smashed it against the table to kill it

I dunno though, I don't think I would have learnt as much from a computer program(if it wasn't real) but maybe a video of a real animal.
